The son of photographer Viktor A\u0107imovi\u0107 and actress Milena Godina, he spent his childhood in Skopje and adolescence in Maribor. He studied film, TV, and theatre direction at the Ljubljana Academy for Theatre, Radio, Film, and Television, later teaching there. Godina worked as director of photography on the award-winning <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Early Works<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1968), which won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. His career includes collaborations with directors such as Du\u0161an Makavejev and \u017divojin Pavlovi\u0107. The filmmaker directed three feature films, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Raft of the Medusa<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1980), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Red Boogie<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1982), and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Artificial Paradise<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1990), and all were shown at major international festivals. Godina has won over 40 awards, including the Pre\u0161eren\u2019s Award for Lifework (2006), the France \u0160tiglic Award (2018), and the IRIS Award (2019). He was awarded Professor Emeritus at the University of Ljubljana (2011). In 2018, his work was featured in a retrospective at MoMA, New York. He has mentored 29 student short films, winning numerous national and international accolades.
