At the start of the Second World War, he left for Paris, where he launched the Lettrism movement. For a time, he was the only member of this movement, which was later joined by others, creating an avant-garde artistic movement that theorized all areas of culture. In 1949, Isou published <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le Soul\u00e8vement de la jeunesse \u2013 Trait\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9conomie nucl\u00e9aire<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, political and economic theories. After the end of the war, Isidore\u00a0Isou became increasingly active and socially committed, and dedicated himself to the changes he was able to make in this area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Isidore\u00a0Isou is the founder of Lettrism. \u201cIt\u2019s about making people understand that letters have another purpose than words\u201d, he declared in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le Manifeste de la po\u00e9sie lettriste<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, written in 1942. The Romanian poet called for a new aesthetic that would no longer be defined by figurative or \u201cabstract\u201d art, but based on the letter and the graphic sign.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Signes fauves<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> here hijacks sign and transforms them into writing, the presentation giving them an almost scientific veracity. The painting is filled with ideographic drawings, graffiti-like signs and Egyptian hieroglyphs.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Was a Romanian poet, film critic and visual artist.
