The group\u2019s practice explores the traumas, clich\u00e9s, and myths of Romania\u2019s recent history, as well as their perception in a global context. Belonging to a generation of transition, the members of the group developed a strategy of dialogue with Western art, transforming the closed culture from which they emerged into an open one.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"652\" data-end=\"828\">The group\u2019s artistic practice developed around the tensions between power and the media representation of Romania\u2019s recent history during the political transition of the 1990s.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"830\" data-end=\"1252\">In this work, the artists refer to the Orthodox ritual of commemorating the living and the dead, in which candles are lit for each category. In the installation placed in 2012 in Bucharest in front of the former <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Palace of the Parliament<\/span><\/span> (formerly the House of the People), the two religious categories\u2014the living and the dead\u2014are replaced by the pseudo-democratic ones: the satisfied and the dissatisfied.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Was founded by C\u0103lin Dan and Dan Mih\u0103l\u021bianu, later joined by the artist Iosif Kir\u00e1ly.
