The Sexy-History Calendar series is an ongoing project which started to develop in 2014 and it consists in the making of thematic sexy-picture calendars. The artistic premise was that a calendar seemed to be the perfect choice as it is a tool to maintain the sense of time. The first chapter of this series (2015 a sexy-history calendar) focused on the forms of the socialist struggles of the past centuries, the movement of capital in the fields of politics and the development of the global market and its repercussions. During the research stay in Timișoara, a new chapter was completed (2016 a sexy-history calendar / Timișoara / movement in the labour market), this time creating a site-specific narration for the 2016 calendar.
Silvia Amancei and Bogdan Armanu are an artistic duo who are living in Iași, Romania and working together since 2012. They work in new media (video, photography, installation) and performance, testing programmatically the physical and discursive limits of an art object, as well as the labor incorporated in their production. Their practice could be positioned at the intersection between social studies and visual art, researching for methods and examples where art and artistic means can be instrumentalized in order to over excite the ability to look beyond capitalism and create a (common) future.
