The Art Encounters Foundation invites you to a new course in the series “Introduction to Contemporary Art” held by Maria Orosan-Telea, as part of the exhibition “Simetric, Never Identical”, which will address the neo-expressionist artistic trends of the late 70s and early 80s and will follow the various concepts they subsume: Neue Wilde, Figuration Libre, Transavanguardia.

Course dedicated to those over 15 years old
Maria Orosan-Telea is a lecturer at the Faculty of Arts and Design in Timișoara. She trained in the field of art history and theory at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca. She has been concerned with contemporary art since her doctoral studies, when she conducted research on Romanian art from the post-communist period. Her collaboration with the Art Encounters Foundation began in 2017 with the publication of the book “Art Guide. Introduction to Romanian Contemporary Art”. As a curator, she has carried out a number of projects in collaboration with the Avantpost group, and in 2018 she founded the curatorial program DRAFT. In the period 2019-2021 she was an assistant in the project “Gender Politics and the Art of European Socialist States” initiated by the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Alongside her academic and curatorial activities, she is concerned with developing user-friendly methods of familiarizing the public with notions and trends in art history.
