Adrian Ghenie is a contemporary Romanian painter, internationally known for his expressionist style and unique approach to history and collective memory. Born on August 13, 1977, in Baia Mare, Romania, Ghenie currently lives and works in Berlin, Germany.

His artistic education began at the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca, and in 2005 he co-founded Galeria Plan B, a space dedicated to contemporary art from Eastern Europe. His works combine figurative and abstract elements, using innovative techniques to create textured and emotionally intense surfaces.

Ghenie is known for his use of palette knives and color layering techniques, which give his works a sculptural dimension. His subjects include collective memory, the distortion of history, and the impact of totalitarian ideologies on humanity.
