(b. 2000, Brașov)
Alexandra Costea (b. 2000, Brașov) is a visual artist based in Timișoara, whose practice explores affective memory and the subtle relationship between nature, body, and time. She holds two Master’s degrees in Visual Arts, specializing in Photography and Video, and Graphic Design, from the Faculty of Arts and Design at the West University of Timișoara. She works with analog photography, alternative techniques, and new media, reactivating historical photographic processes such as cyanotype, liquid emulsion, and salt printing. Drawn to materiality, she uses tactile surfaces like stone and cotton to reflect on the feeling of fragility and permanence. Through installations, interviews, and poetic imagery, she creates introspective spaces where nostalgia is not merely an aesthetic, but a form of reconnection with both personal and collective history. Her artistic practice becomes a means of introspection, where technique, emotion, and documentation intertwine to convey depth and meaning. Alexandra proposes a dialogue between past and present, between the visual and the emotional, crafting a visual poetry of everyday reality.
Her project within the exhibition Another Time Has Other Lives To Live was initiated during the Fusion:AIR 2024 residency – Quolony Association. Scientific Coordination: Dr. Bogdana Mitu – National Institute for Research and Development in Plasma Physics and Radiation (INFLPR), Dr. Monica Enculescu – INFIM – National Institute for Research and Development in Materials Physics, Dr. Daciana Botta – INFIM, Dr. Mihaela Beregoi – INFIM, Dr. Anca Aldea – INFIM, Dr. Victor Diculescu – INFIM, Dr. Ionuț Enculescu – INFIM.
