Benjamin Fondane

(1898-1944)

He was a French-Romanian critic, essayist, and poet who had a strong influence on the avant-garde movements. After completing his studies at the University of Iași, he moved to Bucharest, where he published in avant-garde magazines such as Contimporanul, Adevărul literar și artistic, and Sburătorul, and joined the Dadaist group. In 1923, he moved to Paris, where he joined the surrealist movement and Tristan Tzara and continued to publish poems in French.(1898-1944)
