
Hassan Khan

Hassan Khan (b. 1975, Great Britain) is an artist, musician, and writer based in Cairo. His work explores shared social conditions and personal narratives to interrogate power, expectation, and perception. Working across video, photography, performance, and installation, Khan sees media not as disciplines to master but as sources of possibility and learning. His notable solo exhibitions include the Centre Pompidou, Paris (2022); Jameel Arts Centre, Dubai (2019); Palacio de Cristal | Reina Sofia, Madrid (2019-2020); MMK, Frankfurt (2015); and Beirut Art Center (2016). He has participated in major biennials, such as the 57th Venice Biennale (2017), where he was awarded the Silver Lion for Composition for a Public Park; Sharjah Biennial 12 (2015); Liverpool Biennial (2014); dOCUMENTA 13 (2012). Hassan Khan’s work is in the collections of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, Centre Pompidou, LACMA, Walker Art Center, Fondation Pinault, MAXXI, Mathaf, among others.
