Olivia Mihălțianu
(b. 1981)
Studied visual arts at the National University of Art in Bucharest, where she lives and works. Her long-term projects – at the crossroads between video, film, photography, objects, installation and performance – follow the personal identity and social life of different cultures or political and economic situations, as they manifest themselves in the global and local context, questioning the role of the artist in today’s society and the archetypal human models, among the favorite subjects of her work.
Blueprint, Robe de soirée is part of a larger project, conceived over the long term under the generic title of Film métrage. It is a series of works realized over the last two decades that refer to film, in the physical sense, as well as to the immaterial aspect of the moving image and to our society’s appetite for the tireless production of recordings and images. The project explores different aspects of the history of cinematography by mixing professional standard productions with amateur films and new technologies, manipulating them according to infinite reconfiguration protocols, through looped projections, hybrid objects for installations, cyanotypes and other artistic productions.
