Valentina Rusu Ciobanu studied at the Chișinău School of Arts (1938–1940) and the Iași Academy of Arts (1942–1944). Graduate of Chișinău Republican School of Arts (1947). Worked in all genres of fine arts, tackling complex biography themes. Went from tonal painting to naïve-artlike expressivity defined by simple outlines and decorativeness, then switched to polysemous symbolic compositions that emphasized volume lines and contrasted different temporal and spatial areas in order to express metaphysical angst.
