Picasso and the Emotional Geometries of the Self
Alina Cioară and Cosmin Gheorghe invite you on Saturday, October 10, at 6:00 PM, to an experimental and interdisciplinary workshop at the intersection of art and psychology, starting from the encounter between Pablo Picasso and Gertrude Stein and a key moment in the transformation of modern portraiture.
How do we construct our own image? How do I see myself, how do I think others see me, and how would I like to be?
Using geometric forms, colour, fragmentation, layering and recomposition, participants will explore their inner landscape and create their own “emotional geometry.” The works will not be interpreted clinically, but will serve as visual tools for reflecting on different representations of the self.
Alina Cioară is a visual artist, researcher and integrative psychotherapist whose practice lies at the intersection of art, psychology and neuroscience.
Cosmin Gheorghe, MD, LMFT, is a professor at the University of San Francisco and California Institute of Integral Studies. His practice focuses on topics including attachment, relationships, burnout, and emotional and cultural intelligence.
