Throughout August, Răzvan Anton, Marcin Dudek, Mihai Iepure-Górski, Armineh Negahdari and Pusha Petrov are in Timișoara for their initial research visits, laying the groundwork for the new works they will develop for next year’s Biennial.
During the event, the five artists will present their artistic practices and share insights into the research they have begun in Timișoara. The presentations will be followed by a conversation with Philippe Van Cauteren and the audience. Meet the Artists will continue over the coming months as more Biennial artists return to Timișoara to develop new commissions, offering the public the opportunity to meet them and discover the projects for the 2027 edition as they take shape.
Launched in Timișoara in 2015, the Art Encounters Biennial has, over the course of its six previous editions, brought together artists and curators from Romania and around the world. Each edition has generated new artistic productions and site-responsive projects developed in dialogue with the city, establishing the Biennial as one of Romania’s leading international platforms for contemporary art.
The 2027 edition marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between the Art Encounters Foundation and S.M.A.K. in Ghent. The collaboration will focus on artistic production, knowledge exchange, and professional development, creating new opportunities for dialogue and collaboration between artists, curators, and the two institutions.
Meet the Artists is the first public event in the programme leading up to the Art Encounters Biennial 2027.
The Art Encounters Biennial 2027 will take place from May 21 to July 4, 2027.
Project funded by the Municipality of Timișoara through the Timișoara Project Center, as part of the Cultural Landmarks 2026–2027 programme.
Free admission.
