Another Time Has Other Lives to Live

The works of the 12 artists question human contact with otherness, the invisible micro-universes that make up our existence, and the transformations of the body today.

The exhibition curated by Diana Marincu captures the disruptive political change in the world order we are witnessing today, as well as a shift in humanity’s relationship with the planet, the universe, our fellow human beings, and technology. The works of the 12 artists question human contact with otherness, the invisible micro-universes that make up our existence, and the transformations of the body today.

The selection of artists aims to reaffirm the mission of the Art Encounters Foundation to create a platform of visibility for artists from Timișoara or who have studied here (Alexandra Costea, Andrei Dinică-Nicolescu, Bogdan Rața, Florin Drăgoi), young artists at the beginning of their careers (Alexandra Costea, Andrei Dinică-Nicolescu, Luca Florian, Talia Maidenberg, Claudia Moraru, Mara Verhoogt), and artists living in the diaspora (Ileana Pașcalău, Claudia Moraru, Ana Golici), but also to create intergenerational bridges that place artists in conceptual “families” that no longer take into account only age or geography (artists Ana Golici and Valentina Rusu-Ciobanu made their mark in the 1970s and 1980s, the latter in the Republic of Moldova). At the same time, this selection highlights a generational solidarity with artists born in the mid-1980s (Florin Drăgoi, Ileana Pașcalău, Bogdan Rața, Serena Ferrario) and surprises the public with forgotten names, rediscovered and reintegrated into an exhibition circuit in Romania, alongside two international artists (Serena Ferrario, Talia Maidenberg) with a very personal connection to this area and a desire to return.

The exhibition will be open to the public between September 26, 2025, and January 10, 2026. Admission is free.

The exhibition is part of the Another Time project, funded by AFCN and supported by Banca Transilvania – strategic partner and ISHO.
