Contemporary art can be found everywhere: in galleries, museums, art fairs and biennales, as well as in parks, public squares and on the street. But unfortunately, just because it’s part of the urban landscape doesn’t mean it’s familiar or easy to understand.
A work of art is a created object or manifestation, recognised as such and whose purpose is to communicate with the viewer. We would add that contemporary works are also meant to reflect on the world around us and sometimes even to reveal something about ourselves. By way of simplification, we suggest that you consider contemporary art as a response to the present day, which has led artists on a quest for identity and has ardently altered both the subjects and what they say. But above all, leave your preconceptions in the cloakroom and let us lead you into a captivating universe that will surprise you and you may love it: not at all, a little, a lot, madly!
