(b. 1996)
Iminent Detour (1996, RO) is a visual artist interested in objects, words, and tools that are not used “by the book.” The predictable and unpredictable ways in which people use objects inspire her to discover something surprising in things and ideas that are already all too familiar. She creates books, objects, and actions that play with the idea of the “banal,” questioning the ways in which we train our gaze and how ideas change over time. Andreea Samoilă works under the name Iminent Detour (imminent detour), because she’s in no hurry to get anywhere.
She graduated from Northumbria University in England with a BA in architecture and holds an MA in Situated Design from St. Joost in the Netherlands. She has exhibited at MNAC, Rezidența 9, RAD Artfair, Contemporar Artspace, Matca Artspace, and V2 Lab for Unstable Media (NL).
