Mihai Toth

(b. 1990)

Mihai Toth (b. 1990, Timișoara) is a conceptual artist living and working in Timișoara, Romania. His artistic practice is based on a multimedia approach, generally articulated through site-specific installations, performative constructions, and performance works. His research focuses on collective systems of reference in which cooperation and group coordination take precedence over individual mechanisms. In this context, he is a member of the Baraka Artist Cultural Association, co-founder of Baraka Artist-run Space in Timișoara, part of Grupul De Niciunde, and a member of the Art Encounters Foundation team.

Both within the organizations he is involved with and through other collaborative contexts, he is consistently engaged in developing educational frameworks through art, creating performative workshops and interactive mediation programmes. Recently, he was involved in the development of the mediation programme for Black Seas: Scores for the Sonic Eye at the Venice Biennale. He is currently a curator within the Art Encounters Foundation collective and a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Arts and Design in Timișoara.
