Save The Date: Opening Weekend 16.05 – 18.05.2025
We are delighted to announce that the Art Encounters Biennale, 6th edition, will take place in May 2025, curated by two exceptional curators Ana Janevski and Tevž Logar.
Timisoara is set to once again become a hub of international art, bringing to the spotlight contemporary art exhibitions and events that connect ideas, cultures and perspectives from around the world, under the guidance of two exceptional curators, Ana Janevski and Tevž Logar, recognized for their vast experience.
Ana Janevski is a curator and writer, currently curator in the Department of Media Art and Performance at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA). She has coordinated over 30 performances and has contributed significantly to the development of MoMA’s performance program.
Ana Janevski was a curator at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, Poland, where she organized, among others, the large-scale exhibition “As Soon As I Open My Eyes I See a Film”, dedicated to Yugoslav experimental film and art of the 1960-1970s. She is a frequent contributor to publications and co-edits works on performance and art history in Yugoslavia.
Ana Janevski currently lives and works in New York.
Tevž Logar is a curator whose career has traveled through the most famous galleries and cultural institutions in Europe and beyond.
Over the years, he has nurtured a reputation for bringing provocative exhibitions to light and collaborating with iconic institutions such as the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Łódź and the Ludwig Museum in Budapest. Moderna galerija in Ljubljana has often partnered with him, as has the Ljubljana Biennial of Graphic Art, where his ideas have intersected with the most innovative voices in contemporary art.
His involvement in the Venice Bienniale and collaborations with Routledge and Artforum in New York reinforce his status as a knowledgeable insider of the international curatorial scene. To talk about Tevž Logar is to talk about an artistic story that connects Rijeka, Ljubljana, New York and Beirut in a fascinating network of ideas and innovation.
Since 2023, he serves as chairman of the acquisition committee of the NLB Bank SEE Collection in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
From May 16 to June 29, 2025, Timisoara will pulse with the creative energy of a Bienniale that promises to redefine the way we relate to contemporary art.
