Mentor: Cătălina Nistor
FRIDAYS, 13:00 — 15:30
July 3rd, July 10th, July 17th and July 24th

Cătălina Nistor’s online workshop focuses on getting the participants familiar with the publication, the book and the fanzine as means of artistic expression that can be obtained with a few resources. The participants will also discover new platforms and resources for disseminating this tangible product offline, a type of promotion that is becoming increasingly difficult in comparison with the current possibilities available online. For the practical part of the workshop, the participants will be asked to create a publication draft – book, fanzine or newspaper.
Cătălina Nistor (b. 1981) is a mix-media artist living in Cluj, Romania. In 2004 she graduated from the University of Arts in Bucharest, Textile Department, and in 2006 she obtained a master’s degree from the same university. Between 2008 – 2009 she studied for a master’s degree at the Dutch Art Institute in Enschede, the Netherlands. Taking a critical and, at most times, self-ironic stance, her projects address taboo topics and stereotypical thinking, which she brings forward through personal stories. Her means of artistic expression are most diverse, with a preference for drawing. Since 2016, she has been experimenting with books as a means of visual expression, and since December 2019, she has been working on the “newspaper” publication – a limited edition offline visual project.
