OPEN CALL
4 weeks artistic residency at Art Encounters Foundation, Timișoara.
Niki Residency Hannover in collaboration with Art Encounters Foundation in Timișoara is launching an open call for the first edition of an international artistic residency exchange for artists based in Hannover.
The residency will take place between July and August 2021 in Timișoara, with a maximum duration of 4 weeks.
The purpose of the residency program is to encourage the exploration of experimental practices, to support the production of new works, to facilitate the exchange of ideas and to establish a meaningful dialogue between communities and cultural actors from different fields and cultural spaces. Through this partnership, Niki extends its network of collaborations with other residency spaces and independent organizations aiming at supporting the mobility and art production of artists. It is for the first time that the artist residency is specially tailored for an artist based in Hannover and is designed to encourage the production of new works with the support of the Foundation and our partners in Timișoara: professional production workshops, a space to be used as studio space and a dedicated budget.
Conditions:
The Art Encounters Foundation will provide the artist in residence a studio space (to be determined depending on the project) and accommodation in an apartment in the city of Timișoara. Travel costs will be covered up to a maximum of 250€.
The artist in residence will be granted an honorary fee of 1200€ and a production cost of 1000€.
The artist will hold a public event during the stay. This can be an artist talk, an open studio or a similar format.
Selection criteria:
The motivation of the candidate to dedicate himself / herself to an artistic project for the entire duration of the residency program
The curiosity to get to know a dynamic artistic community, which is open to collaborations
The quality of the portfolio and of the proposed project
The selection therefore looks, on one hand, at the project proposed by the candidate artists and the openness to experiment with new working models, and on the other hand, at how this residency can offer them an opportunity for development in the future.
Application and deadline:
Interested artists are invited to send applications by email to info@niki-hannover.org by May 24th, 2021. Each application must contain a cover letter of maximum 1 page describing the project to be considered, accompanied by the artist’s portfolio and a short CV in a PDF (max 15 MB).
Restrictions of the CoVid 19 Pandemic:
Through this difficult times both agencies, Niki and The Art Encounters Foundation reserve the claim to delay the so called events or residency period. The legal restrictions on both countries will be taken in mandatory priority to provide safety to the selected artist.
Jury:
A Jury from Art Encounters Foundation in Timișoara will decide on the winning candidate by the end of May.
